Are students really showing what they know with the current assessments available?

In the age of testing, one has to ask the question if students rare being given the opportunity to show what they know with the current state assessments? As a teacher of Special Education students, I often wonder if a student portfolio is a more valuable tool to assess a student's performance.

Using our knowledge of multiple intelligences should also support the RTI intervention that we provide children. By becoming aware of a students "learning style," then we can plan effective intervention for the in6dividual student to help them make progress.

It is important to differentiate instruction for your students. With all of the research that has been done, there are still a lot of questions about how teachers will differentiate assessments to match their students' learning style or multiple intelligence.
